Laura Hardway

Laura Inez Hardway, 72, of Brandon passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Johnny Pelham officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Whitney. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to service time.

Inez was born December 25, 1941 in Dallas to Ernest and Dorothy (Eckenfels) Brackenridge. She spent her childhood in the Dallas area, moved to the Lake Whitney area in 1975, and had been in Hill County ever since. An excellent cook and seamstress, she also enjoyed hearing her sons sing gospel music. Inez had overcome two episodes of cancer.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Duane Bray and L. C. Hardway; son, David Hammer; infant daughter, Sherrie Hammer; and brother, Jimmy Brackenridge.

Survivors include her children, Russell Hammer of Brandon, Jimmy Hammer and wife, Diann, of Hillsboro, Janell Allen and husband, Tracy, of Brandon, Larry Bray of Forney, and Johnny Bray and wife, Cindy, of Tool; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hammer of Denison; brother, “Sonny” Brackenridge of Arlington; sisters, Peggy Ray of Kemp and Janice Ince of Arlington; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
