Laura Mcconathy

Laura Elizabeth McConathy, 87, of Whitney passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at her residence in Whitney. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 16th, at the Marshall & Marshall Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Alan Berrio of Missionary Baptist Church of Whitney officiating. Interment will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Laura Elizabeth was born on August 30, 1924 in Comanche County, Texas to Roland and Mignon (Neely) Holley. She married Paul McConathy on August 30, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Apirl 13, 2001. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Raymond, Alton, and Claude Holley; a sister, Grace Harris; her beloved grandson, Craig McConathy; and great-grandson, Anthony Gray.

A dedicated member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Whitney, Laura enjoyed cooking and canning preserves. She also loved to make everyone’s favorite pie and present it to them.

Survivors include her two children, Gary McConathy and wife, Alice and William R. McConathy and wife, Patty; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends, all of whom will miss her loving smile and joyful spirit.
