Lavern (Inman) Roberts

Lavern Roberts, 87, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Graveside services will take place at 6:00 pm, Friday, July 1, 2022, at New Woodbury Cemetery with pastor Kenny Kennedy officiating. Lavern will lie in state from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas.

Lavern better known as “Nana” by the many who knew and loved her was born September 18, 1934, to Susan Mildred Shults and Julius McLeod Inman in Allen, Oklahoma where she spent her early years until leaving for California. There she met and married William Coy Roberts the love of her life on September 8, 1952, in Reno, Nevada.

They moved to Hillsboro, Texas in 1970, where they raised their three daughters Julie, Debbie, and Robin. Lavern retired from Hill College Cosmetology where she was a cosmetology instructor.

She was a member of the Woodbury Grand Ole Opry Band with her husband Coy. She was of the Baptist faith.

Lavern was a beauty queen, singer, square dancer, genealogist, and lover of antiques.

Lavern is best known for her capacity to love her family, Julie and T Mastin, Debbie and James Cagle, Robin and Clyde Yancy, grand and great grandchildren: Marc and Sarah Young, Roy Young, Grace Young, Jacob, Jerod, Julia and Joe Pavelka; Hayley and David Tidwell, sons Cooper, Bryant Tidwell; Suzanne Jenkins, children, Elizabeth, Nate Jenkins; Sicily and Eric Schlotter and daughter Ella Schlotter; Eric and Brook Cagle, daughters Greenlee and Cora Cagle; Loren and Basie Bostic.
