Laverne Perry, 87, of China Spring, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2020, in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with Pastor Larry Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Malone, Texas. A visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 8th at the funeral home.
Laverne was born on November 3, 1933, in Hill County, Texas to August and Lydia (Lentz) Neumann. She graduated from Bynum High School in 1951. During high school, she played softball and was the pitcher.
On July 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Victor “Bob” Perry and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1994.
For 30 years, she worked as a mail clerk for the Texas Farm Bureau in Waco. After retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. An avid fisherman, she was known for using her cane pole. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, dancing and playing dominoes, especially “42”. Laverne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Neumann.
Survivors include her children, Mike Perry and wife, Bernice of West, Theresa Kroll and husband, Ronald of China Spring, Melonnie Pollard and husband, Jerry of Arlington and Scott Perry and wife, Cindy of Waco; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Martinka and husband, Aaron, Heath Perry, Brandon Kroll and fiancée Kim, Leslie Owen and husband, Bud, Paige Price and husband, Robert, Payton Pollard and Collin Perry; 6 great-grandchildren, Alli, Evan, Reese, Landrey, Lauryn and Logan; a brother, Donald Neumann of Bruceville; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bates and husband Truett of Pearl, Martha Patterson and husband, Gene of Waco and Betty Giebler of Burleson; and several nieces and nephews.
