Laverne Wallace

LaVerne Wallace, 93, passed away on September 18, 2013, in Hillsboro. Services for Mrs. Wallace will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 20, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Eddie Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, September 19, at the funeral home.

La Verne was born on August 2, 1920, in the Bethel Community of Hill County, to Bud and Annar (Myers) Williams. On January 18, 1941, she married Jessie Odell Wallace and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1981. LaVerne was a homemaker and an immaculate housekeeper. She was extremely proud of her three sons and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The only one of all the sisters who learned to drive a car, she was always taking them where they needed to go. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Whitney.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter-in-law, Kathy Wallace on February 13, 2006; five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth Wallace and wife, Linda, of Mertens, Gary Wallace of Whitney, and Rick Wallace and wife Janet of Whitney; grandchildren, Kevin Kyser and wife Michelle of Hudson Oaks, Jim Bob Wallace of Mertens, Jon Wallace and wife Robin of Hillsboro, Karli Fowler and husband, John of Honey Grove and Brock Wallace of Abbott; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Wallace of Hillsboro, Audrey Fowler of Honey Grove, and Ally Kyser of Hudson Oaks; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro, Dr. David Skelton and Providence Hospice for their love and care to Mrs. Wallace.
