Lawrence Dorsey

Our beloved husband and father, Lawrence “Larry” Tucker Dorsey, passed away in the early morning of Sunday, August 6, 2017, in Waco.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017, with a viewing at 9:15 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hillsboro where President Jason Holloway will be officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Larry was born on July 7, 1944, in Dallas, to James Allen Dorsey, Jr and Louise (Tucker) Dorsey. He grew up in Oak Cliff. Larry served his country between the Korean and Vietnam wars in the U.S. Navy. He earned his undergraduate degree from UTA and his graduate degree from USL in Louisiana. He worked as a hospital administrator for 24 years in Louisiana where he was dearly loved by those who worked with him. In 1969, he married Mary “Kathy” Kathleen Wylie. His hobbies included politics, genealogy and golf.

Larry was a true patriot, and as a conservative he loved both Ronald Reagan and a good “Duke” movie. He was a member of the NRA. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hillsboro. He was a wonderful father and loved his family very much. Anyone who knew Larry would tell you that he was a great man with a kind heart.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Dorsey, of Whitney; children, Danny Allen Graham of McKinney, Martin Anthony McDonald of Cedar Park, Ginger Colleen Schultz of Austin, and Amy Dorsey Roy of Round Rock; grandchildren, Paige Simpson, Tawny Graham, and Logan McDonald, Canyon Schultz and Henna Roy; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Simpson.
