Lee Johnson

Lee Roy Johnson, 88 years old, of Frost died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney. Lee Roy Johnson was born June 12, 1922 to the late Alonzo and Lillie Johnson. He confessed Christ at an early age, and was educated in the Round Rock Independent School District. He was united in holy matrimony to Emma Mae Johnson on June 12, 1948. To that union a son, Adrain, was born. He was a faithful member of the Saints Delight United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for 55 years. He was also a district delegate at numerous annual conferences of the United Methodist Church, where he also served as District Director of Lay Speaking and Chairperson of Religion and Race. Mr. Johnson left an indelible mark on his family, friends and community. He worked for the Frost Independent School District as a custodian, bus driver and maintenance employee for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1989. He was also a long time volunteer scoreboard operator at Frost High School, where he never missed a single home game in 50 years. In fact, he was featured in a 2005 Corsicana Daily Sun article for his volunteer efforts. He was preceded in death by parents, Alonzo Sr. and Lille Johnson; brothers, Abraham and Alonzo Jr.; sisters, Gertrude Haywood, Ruby Melrose, Fannie Hill and Marjorie Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Emma Mae Johnson; son, Adrain Johnson and wife, Versie; grandson, Jonathon; two great-grandchildren, Kaniyah and Jayveon; and sister, Sarah Shaw.
