Lee Sorensen

Lee Sorensen, 80, of Woodbury passed away Thursday evening, February 1, 2018, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Kenny Kennedy of Trail To The Cross Cowboy Church officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, at the funeral home.

Born March 3, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, IA, he was the son of William F. and Margaret (Jacobsen) Sorensen. He grew up in Iowa on the farm. Following his high school graduation in 1955, Lee served his country in the United States Air Force for 3 ½ years. After serving in the Air Force, he met Alice Racz and they were married on September 14, 1964 in Waubeek, IA. They began raising their family in Iowa and moved to Texas in 1986. Lee worked at Cercon until his retirement in 2002. At that time, he went to work at Edco Machine in Hillsboro. In his spare time, Lee enjoyed building model airplanes, tinkering in his shop building things, and gardening. He was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the Iowa Firemen’s Association

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Gene Sorensen.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Alice Sorensen of Woodbury; three children, Duane Sorensen and Linda Carnes, both of Itasca, and Karl Sorensen and wife, Faith Ann, of Woodbury; brother, Paul Sorensen of Slidell, LA; eleven grandchildren, Keira, Kelly, Kurtis, Kevin, Tonya, Chelsea, Desiree, Justin, Brady, Kolby, and Karlee; and six great-grandchildren, Marissa, Landen, Serenity, Christian, Traisyn, and Jasce.
