Lela Claxton

Lela Mae Claxton, 94, of Whitney, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at her residence. A memorial service was held on Friday, January 7, at First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 7, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney.

Lela was born on January 2, 1917 in Whitney daughter of the late Walter and Rose Caperton Satterwhile. She married Eugene Claxton on November 11, 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Whitney.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Walter C. Joines.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Eugene "Gene" Claxton of Whitney; son, Alfred Joines and wife, Erna, of Arlington; stepsons, Troy Claxton and wife, Julie, of Alton, Illinois, Roger Claxton and wife, Cathy, of Whitney; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and her Nazarene Church family.
