Lemuel Fontanez

Lemuel Fontanez, age 53 of Whitney, Texas passed away Monday, August 12, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, August 23, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. A private visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney.

Lemy was born on February 6, 1971, in Lorain, Ohio. He spent his early years in Lorain, Ohio and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before moving to Detroit, Michigan, and then Puerto Rico at the age of five. Lemy lived on the island until he turned 18, at which point he proudly joined the Marine Corps Engineers of the United States of America.

Lemy was a dedicated family man who is survived by his loving wife, Idiana, and six children: Diane, Austin, Chris, Brandy, Xavier, and Emily. He was also a proud grandfather to three grandsons: Ayden, Angelo, and Xavi. Lemy shared a special bond with his best friend, Bentley, his loyal dog, along with four cherished cats.

Lemy had a deep love for sports, particularly golf, and enjoyed the thrill of Texas Hold’em. His passion for politics and a good movie was well-known among his loved ones. During his time in Puerto Rico, he served as the leader of the Cadet of Zion at the church in Camuy, where his father, was a minister for many years.

In addition to his immediate family, Lemy is survived by his father, Misael Fontanez, and his siblings: Eliu, Bilma, Debbie, Mitty, Abner, Eleazar, Misael Junior, Dialis, and Linda.

Lemy’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
