Lena Radke

Lena Radke, 98, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery near Malone. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Lena was born November 25, 1916 in Malone to Herman and Della (Radke) Symank. On December 9, 1934, she was united in marriage to Grover Radke and they were married for 51 years before Grover preceded her in death. Lena was a lifelong farmer’s wife. She loved gardening and her specialties were tomatoes and peppers. At age 87, she started working outside of the home. She was employed with Bynum ISD in the cafeteria for a year and with Malone ISD in its cafeteria for 3 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Buster and Ben; two sisters, Oleta and Delta; grandson, Brent Radke; and nephew, Joe Symank.

Survivors include her two sons, Grover Radke and wife, Lillian, of Glenn Heights and James Radke of Dallas; sister, Edna Taylor of Irving; grandson, Jon Allan Radke and wife, Jamie, of Rowlett; three great-grandchildren, Trinity and Henley of Rowlett and Allison of Lone Oak; and many other loving relatives and friends.
