Leon Helton

Hubert Leon Helton, 94, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, in Hillsboro.  Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, December 9, 2022 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with burial immediately following at Hillcrest Garden of Memory.  Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Marshall and Marshall.

Leon was born September 30, 1928 to Hubert Henry and Alphie Leeartie “Dot” (Henthorn) Helton in Irene, Texas.  He married Roberta Mason and they had two sons together.  A carpenter by trade, Leon enjoyed dancing, working on cars, working cattle, sitting in his backyard, trips to Louisiana, and collecting beer signs.  He especially loved his grandkids and made many trips to McDonald’s with them.

Preceded in death by his parents, Leon is survived by his wife, Roberta (Mason) Helton; his children, Dwaine and his wife Pamela, and Davey and his wife, Laura; seven grandchildren, Megan Thomas and husband Todd, Heather Scoggins and husband Derek, Nick Helton and wife Stacey, Cody Lunsford and wife Heather, Clay Lunsford and wife Mallory, Glenna Crain, Sean Crain and wife Katie; fifteen great-grandchildren, Colbie, Mason, Olivia, Lincoln, Tryston, Caden, Easton, Lauren, Kade, Brennen and wife Lynden, Carson, Shelby, Chance, Lyvv, and Karter; one great-great-grandchild, Kasen.
