Leonard Hasten

Leonard Hasten, 84, of Mertens died Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana. Leonard was born September 21, 1923 in Milford, Texas the son of Ernest and Sula Perry Hasten. He grew up in Italy and graduated from Italy High School. On May 27, 1943 he married Nelta Thomas and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2008. During WWII he worked at North American Aviation. In 1945 he started farming the family farm that has been in his family since 1863. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Italy. Also preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, R. C., Leon, and Perry Hasten. Survivors include his son, Kenneth Hasten and wife, Freda, of Mertens; sister, Allene Mauldin of Bonham; and two grandchildren, Kyle Hasten and Michele Smithey.
