Leonard Kaddatz, 73, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Malone. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Leonard was born April 13, 1937 in Malone the son of Edwin August Emil and Martha Ida (Degner) Kaddatz. He grew up in Malone and completed his high school education at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin and also attended college there. After school, he settled in Hillsboro working at Hawk & High Grocery.
On October 4, 1959, he married Emma Lee Piel in Malone. Leonard went to work for Sears for 28 years beginning in 1961. He started with the Hillsboro store and later moved to Mexia. He managed stores in Taylor, Yocham, and Cuero before returning to Hillsboro in 1970. He loved to garden, work in the yard, and barbecue. An ardent animal lover, Leonard also loved to build bird houses.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, where he was very active, serving as an elder, Sunday School Superintendant, Treasurer, and Secretary. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lee Kaddatz, of Hillsboro; daughter, Kim Leech and husband, Kent, of Hillsboro; two brothers, Eugene Kaddatz and wife, Beverly, and Don Kaddatz and wife, Sue, all of Hillsboro; two granddaughters, Hadley and Emery Leech both of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
