Leonard Sanchez, 65, of Bynum passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011, in Glen Rose. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Minister Henry Cortez. Burial will follow at Bell Springs near Bynum. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, followed by visitation until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leonard was born February 18, 1946 in Georgetown to Leonardo and Martha (Mojica) Sanchez. He was raised in Travis County. On October 15, 1967 he married Elodia Martinez through the Church of Christ in Dublin. In 1988 they moved to Bynum from Hillsboro. For many years he worked as a carpenter, remodeling houses.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Gilbert Sanchez; and two brothers, Frank and Celestino Sanchez.
Survivors include his wife, Elodia Sanchez of Bynum; four children, Mercy Sanchez of Hillsboro, Adam Sanchez and Tammy Malone of Bynum, and Diana Cerna and husband, Valentin, and Olivia Cerna and husband, Gonzalo, all of Cleburne; three brothers, Rafael Sanchez of Granbury and Alfonso and Joe Sanchez both of Glen Rose; five sisters, Alice Cogburn of Stephenville, Margaret Ramirez of Glen Rose, Martha Sanchez of Fort Worth, and Rosie Schat, Sandra Davalos, and Eva Zapata all of Granbury; and five grandchildren, Kaci and Shelby Cerna, and Brittany, Claudia, and Mercedes Sanchez.
