Letha was the daughter of Jasper Newton and Annie Altie Scott Cook. She was born on December 31, 1921 in Dawson Navarro Co. Texas. Letha married Joe Bailey Ballard on June 18, 1938 and was a seamstress and worked at various sewing manufacturing companies in Dallas, retiring from Prophecy in 1986. Letha had lived in Mabank for the last five years, where she was a member of the Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents and nine siblings. She is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Blackburn and husband, James of Mabank; one son, Joe Bailey Ballard, Jr. and wife, Delores of Granbury. Four grandchildren; Tamara Wimmer and husband, Jeff; Mark Blackburn and wife, Jeanne; David Ballard and wife, Krisin; Justin Ballard and wife, Alicia. Seven great grandchildren. One brother, David Wayne Cook and wife, Lanelle of Granbury. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 prior to graveside services. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 8, 2007 at 12 noon at Whitney Memorial Park near Whitney.
