Letha Lewis

Letha Faye Curbo Lewis, 87, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Hillcrest in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with Bro. Leonard Donald Lewis and Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, at the funeral home.

Faye was born to Luther and Samantha Jane (Blocker) Curbo on August 4, 1930 in Hill County. She attended Woodbury schools and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1947. While attending Hill College part-time, she was secretary to the superintendent of schools in Hillsboro. On August 14, 1949, Faye married the love of her life, Douglas Lewis. At that time she went to work as a service representative for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. After 33 years of service, she retired to help her husband in his tv and appliance business. Following their retirement in 1988, they enjoyed traveling, hunting, listening to music, and working in the yard. Faye also worked one day a week in the business office at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home and really enjoyed the people. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and spent many hours working in the church when she was younger. Faye and Doug were very thankful to God for the good life they had together.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Willie Jim, Luther Edwin, and Delbert Lee Curbo; and three sisters, Ruth Curbo, Frances Doherty, and Evelyn Williams.

Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Douglas Lewis; sister-in-law, Betty Curbo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
