Levona Frieda Geltmeier, 97, of Malone passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, at West Rest Haven in West. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Malone with Rev. Mandy Brobst-Renaud officiating. Burial will follow at Walling Cemetery in Malone. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born February 19, 1919 in Malone, she was the daughter of Martin and Lena (Radke) Strauch. She lived in Malone all of her life. Levona was baptized on April 6, 1919 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Malone and was confirmed on August 20, 1933. Her confirmation verse was Matthew 28:20, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” On November 17, 1938, she was united in marriage to Willie Emil Geltmeier and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2000. During her working career, she was employed at the sewing factory in Hubbard for a number of years and then by the public schools in Malone.

Levona enjoyed gardening and making homemade soup. She was also a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Malone.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, five sisters, and five brothers.

Survivors include her children, Jeanette Herrell of Malone, Billy Geltmeier and wife, Vickie, of Arlington, and Garry Geltmeier of Malone; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
