Lillian Mae Mayo, 82, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Dr. Allan Lane officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Lillian was born March 12, 1929 in Hill County to L. B. and Ida Dell (Napps) Sherrill. On June 4, 1949 she married James Mayo and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2006. They lived in Arlington for many years before returning to Hillsboro in 1969. Lillian loved to sew and worked as a seamstress at Rose Marie in Hillsboro for 16 years. A lover of hummingbirds, she loved to feed them and collect figurines of them. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Arlington.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Louise Lewis and Patsy Glover.
Survivors include her two daughters, Betty Degner and Sharon Kaye Mayo both of Hillsboro; two sisters, Dovie Degner and husband, Skeet, of Arlington and Jamie Magee and husband, Glen, of Whitney; granddaughter, Amy Butcher of Mansfield; two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Skylar Butcher both of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
