Lillian Piel

Lillian Piel, 94, of Malone, passed away on August 31, 2018 at a Hillsboro nursing home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 3, 2018 at Walling Cemetery in Malone with Pastor Michael Nemec officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Lilian was born on December 23, 1923, in Malone, to Reinhardt and Bertha (Schulz) Schulze and was raised in the Malone area of Hill County. On December 16, 1945, she married Wilton Rudolph Piel and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1996. She worked in both the Malone and Penelope schools as a cook in the cafeteria.

She loved to cook and crochet as well as visiting with family and friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Oleta Kaska.

Survivors include her children, Connie Bratcher and Rodney Piel; grandchildren, Kim Buth and husband, Brian, Brady Bratcher, and James Piel; great-grandchildren, Kassidy Buth and Kolten Buth; a brother, Alton Schulze; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church Kitchen Fund, 915 Corsicana Hwy, Hillsboro, Texas 76645 or Walling Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 82, Malone, Texas 76660.
