Lillie Johnson

Lillie L. Johnson, 91, of Hillsboro passed away early Monday morning in a Cleburne nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Lillie was born November 11, 1923 in Malone to Herman Emil and Emma (Maass) Markwardt. On July 18, 1942, she married Maurice Johnson. For many years, Lillie was a seamstress. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; grandson, Sidney Waits; great-grandson, Bobby Rothel; two sisters, Melinda Duke and Adeline Schoppe; and three brothers, Marvin, Wilbert, and Alton Markwardt.

Survivors include her three children, Shirley Johnson Bennett of Hillsboro, Glenda Johnson Wilson of Cleburne, and James Johnson and wife, Wanapa of Crowley; brother, Dick Markwardt of Hurst; three sisters, Martha Priest of Tomball, Emma Piel of Waco, and Laverne Rash of Arlington; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
