Lilly Ruth (Durant) Basye

Lilly Ruth (Durant) Basye, 89, of Covington, Texas, passed away on July 5, 2024, in Burleson, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am,  Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Itasca Cemetery in Itasca, Texas.

She was born February 17, 1935, in Itasca, Texas to Freeland and Juanita Durant. Lilly married Billy Basye on February 28, 1958. Together, they had three children.

Lilly worked for Bowie’s, Dr. Allen, S&H Green Stamps, for twenty-six years, Lockheed Martin, and Jimmy’s Store. She loved to garden and can her garden’s bounty and there is no telling how many peach cobblers she made from the peaches in her orchard. Lilly loved to feed her family and was an avid quilt collector.

Preceded in death by her parents, Freeland and Juanita; her siblings, Jessie Napps, Gladys Hall and Kenneth (Tut) Durant, she is survived by her husband, Billy; her children, Joan Buncik and husband, Steve, Sherry Hughes and husband, Tommy, and Steve Basye; her grandchildren, Stephen Buncik, Crystal Stallings, Summer Noble, Shelbie Resendiz, Tom Hughes and Spencer Hughes; her great grandchildren, Athens Clinkscales, Macey Buncik, Asher Buncik, Gracen Noble, Brynlee Noble, West Noble, Nicholas Resendiz, Dillion Resendiz, Gage Hughes and Kado Hooten; and her sister, Linda Jordan.
