Linda Ann Bassett, 82, of Itasca, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 25, 2025, in Hillsboro, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Pastor Daniel Tanguma will officiate.
Linda was born April 17, 1943, to Cullen "Bama" and Ruth (Dossey) Williamson in Hillsboro. She graduated Salutatorian for the class of 1961 of Itasca High School. She then attended the University of North Texas, where she completed a Bachelor's in Business Education with a minor in English. While at UNT, she met her husband of sixty plus years, Bob. They married on October 31, 1964.
She devoted her life to educating students of all ages, teaching in Houston, Blum, and Itasca ISDs. She taught many subjects in her thirty-five plus year career, including history, English, typing, shorthand, accounting, and computer classes. She also was the cheerleading/mascot sponsor, National Honor Society sponsor, UIL coach, bus driver, and cared for the welfare of all students.
Linda was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Central Baptist Church of Itasca and later First Baptist Church of Hillsboro. Over the years she taught Vacation Bible School and was a church clerk, pianist, sound engineer, and choir member. She also volunteered for the Central Baptist River Ministry Missionary Team, which served the South Texas Rio Grande Valley for twenty plus years. She found fulfillment reaching countless lives for Jesus.
In her spare time, Linda enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking. She was happiest preparing Sunday afternoon and holiday meals for her family. She loved singing with her family while playing the piano at home.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Bama and Ruth. She is survived by her loving husband, William Robert; her sons Allan and wife Carrie, Brian and wife Tara, and Stephen and wife Lauren; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
