Linda Curtis

Linda A. Curtis, 71, of Bynum passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Itasca Nursing Home in Itasca. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Gene Edens officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, at the funeral home.

Born October 7, 1944 in Waco, Linda was the daughter of Robert C. And Winnie (Pruitt) Avery. She was raised in Cranfills Gap where she graduated from high school in 1963. In 1965, she received her CNA licence from Hill College. She was employed at the Hillsboro Clinic, Town Hall Estates, and worked most of her career at Canterbury Villa, retiring in 2006. She also worked for Pizza Hut in Hillsboro for 23 years, retiring from there in 2008. On February 13, 1964, Linda was united in marriage to Eddie Tom Curtis. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1984.

A member of the Church of Christ, Linda loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ unconditionally and read her bible everyday. An avid animal lover, she was especially fond of dogs. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading.

The family would like to thank the staff of Itasca Nursing Home for all their loving and tender care provided to Mrs. Curtis over the past few years.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Lonnie Vanek; and grandson, William Simpson.

Survivors include her children, Susan Simpson, Becky Vanek, Tom Curtis, and Teresa Harris and husband, Charles; two brothers, Glenn Hanson and wife, Rita, and Ben Hanson; sister, Theada Spurgon and husband, Jimmy; mother-in-law, Esta Lee Curtis; eight grandchildren, Chad Vanek, Rhiannon Vanek, Danyele Thompson, Megan Secundino, Kevin Harris, Stephanie Adams, Mary Katherine Matamors, and Jose Matamors; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Smith, Candace Thompson, and Nathan Thompson; and special friend, David Moyers.
