Linda Rose

Linda Carleen Rose, 64, of Whitney passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Prairie Valley Baptist Church in Whitney with Pastor Rusty Penney and Pastor Jay Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Whitney. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Linda was born December 9, 1947 in Brownfield to the late Carl Bruce and Marie (McNiel) Roberts. On April 21, 1967 she married Bob Rose in Brownfield. In 1988 she graduated from South Plains College Nursing School in Levelland. For several years, she worked at Methodist Hospital in Levelland and Lubbock as a registered nurse. While living in Levelland, she organized the Levelland Area Art Association and was its first president. She also organized the Capital Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization in Levelland. In 2004, the couple moved to Whitney, where Linda went to work at Park Plaza Nursing Home for several years.

A very talented person, Linda was an artist who enjoyed painting very much. She also liked to work in the garden, sew, and was an excellent cook. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed water recreation, watching her children and grandchildren ski, and camping in the mountains.

She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Rose, of Whitney; children, Scott Rose and wife, Teresa, and Brian Rose and wife, Melissa, all of Levelland and Carrie Glass and husband, Matt, of Cibolo; four sisters, Shirley Short and husband, Larry, of Rule, Glenda Bell of Brownfield, Debbie Jones of Abilene, and Donna Rowlett of Brownfield; and seven grandchildren, Aaron Jordan Rose, Audra Breann Rose, Lawrence Riley Rose, Robert Evan Rose, and Rian Michael Rose all of Levelland and Michael Alan Glass and Nathan Tyler Glass both of Cibolo.

Memorials may be made to the National Down Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway 8th Floor, New York, NY 10012.
