Lionel G. Lerma

Leo Lerma of Lake Whitney went home to be with his savior peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023, in Waco, Texas at the age of seventy.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 to 2:00 at Marshall and Marshall.

Lionel was born in Nordheim, Texas on July 17, 1952, to father Louis Lerma and mother Maria (Gonzales) Lerma. He was the third child of seven. He was married to the love of his life, Martha Lerma in 1974.

Leo was a fun spirited man, a fighter and a hard worker.  He was an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather.  He looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren Ethan, Jazzy, Uriah and Josiah.  Leo had a great sense of humor.  He told great stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration for entertainment. Some of his favorite activities were fishing, listening to music and driving around the countryside with his wife, Martha.  He also enjoyed drinking beer with his brother John on the back of his truck.

After several months of declining health, Leo died peacefully with his loving wife, Martha Lerma, Erick Lerma, Amy Santos, Lidia Padilla and Jessica Zion by his side.

Preceded in death by his father, Louis Lerma; his mother, Maria (Gonzalez) Lerma; and brother, John Lerma, he is survived by his wife, Martha Lerma; his children, Erick Lerma, Mandy Ramirez and her husband, Fey Ramirez, Amy Santos and her husband Rosendo Santos, Ronie Lerma and his wife, Crystal Lerma; and his grandchildren, Ethan, Jazalyn, Uriah and Josiah.

Lionel “Leo” Lerma was well respected and loved by his family.
