Lodie Annie (Huff) Banik, 94, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 and Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, Texas. Funeral services will be held and 11:00 am, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, Texas, with burial to follow at Gerald Cemetery in Elm Mott, Texas. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall.

Lodie was born September 17, 1928, to Emil Gus and Ida Bertha (Adler) Huff, at the Huse place near Brandon, Texas.  She was baptized October 8, 1928, at Salem Lutheran Church Malone, Texas, confirmed on April 18, 1943, accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, and remained a member there until her death. Lodie attended Savage School.  She was united inmarriage on December 12, 1951 to Walter Albert Banik at Salem Lutheran Church, Malone, Texas.  They remained together for fifty-one years until his passing.

Lodie prayed and read the Bible every night no matter how tired she was. She raised and nurtured her family in the Christian faith.  A hard worker, she raised her family and helped on the family farm.  Lodie was a devoted housewife who raised and canned garden food, sewed and did alterations.  She loved helping the Ladies Guild, putting out flags for the veterans at the cemetery, cutting bushes around the church school buildings, cleaning, assisting with Vacation Bible School, and baking cookies and treats.  Lodie spent her later years at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro.

Preceded in death by her husband, Walter Albert Banik; her parents, Emil Gus and Ida Bertha (Adler) Huff; her brothers, Odis Huff and Milton Adolph Huff, she is survived by her sister, Dorothy M. Quiram; her children, Johnny Lee Banik and wife, Judy, Linda Marie Banik, Ronald Dean Banik, and Mary Ann Mullins and husband, Steven; her grandchildren, Jenny Hogan and husband, William (Bill), Johnny Banik, Jr., Rodney D. Banik, Susan Briscoe and husband, Cole, and Amos R. Mullins and wife, Crystal; twenty great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 718 HCR 3424 East, Malone, Texas 76660.
