Lois Banks, 99, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday afternoon, July 26, 2014 at a Hillsboro nursing home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Amy Anderson of Line Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lois was born on June 27, 1915 in China Spring. She was the daughter of Clyde Mac and Nanny Bee (Lewis) Elmore. For most of her 99 years, she was a resident of McLennan County. On November 20, 1937 she married D C Banks. After 44 years of marriage, D C preceded her in death on January 16, 1982. Lois had been a resident of Hillsboro for the past four and a half years.

For over 20 years, Lois worked at Hillcrest Hospital as a medical technologist. She was most recently a member of First United Methodist Church in Waco after having been a long time member of the former Herring Avenue Methodist Church. It was there she served on multiple occasions as president of the UMW.

Baylor University held a very special place in heart. She regularly attended homecoming parades and was an avid supporter of all the university’s athletics.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Lee Elmore and Pete Elmore; a sister, Hazel Gee; and a granddaughter, Leslee Linnemann. Her survivors include two children, Anna Auvenshine and husband, Bill, of Hillsboro and Carol Linnemann and husband, James, of Irving; 3 grandchildren, Karen Lawless and husband, Layne, of Broken Arrow, OK, Lee Auvenshine and wife, Stacey, of Waxahachie, and Chrissa; 7 great-grandchildren, Morgan Lawless, Corinne, Misty, Natalie, and Tripp Auvenshine, Brandon James Kunkel, and Patrick McClellan, and a number of great-great grandchildren.
