Lois Marie (Sikes) Helms

Lois Marie Sikes Helms, age 86, formerly of Hillsboro passed away May 27, 2024. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, with a visitation preceding the service at 9:00 am at Marshall & Marshall. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory.

She was born January 14, 1938, in San Patricio, Texas, daughter of the late Buryl and Susie McCown Sikes. On May 31, 1968, she married Delbert Helms in Sinton, Texas and moved to Hillsboro where they loved and enjoyed each other for 50 years. Lois was a stay-at-home mom while raising their three boys. She attended night classes at Hill College to obtain her real estate and broker’s license. In later years she worked at several local banks, owned a beauty shop, and worked in a clothing store in Hillsboro. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Hillsboro and later the Assumption Parish Family in West. Lois was also preceded in death by her husband, brother, and grandson. Survivors include Jim Helms and wife Cindy, Bobby Helms and wife, Lisa and Danny Helms and wife, Kay; two stepdaughters, Diana and Donna Helms, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
