Lois Laverne (Cliett) Mcconathy

Lois LaVerne McConathy, age 85 of Whitney passed away April 22, 2022, at Town Hall Estates. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney, Texas, with Bob Ryan officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, April 25, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney, Texas.

She was one of five children born to Quinn Cliett and Georgia Duke Cliett. LaVerne grew up in the Peoria area near Whitney. On February 21, 1953, she married Denton McConathy. They lived in the Ft. Worth area for almost forty years before Denton’s retirement and returning to Whitney in 1991. Laverne loved her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel and shop for antiques. She will be greatly missed.

Preceding LaVerne in death are her parents, her husband; brothers Billy Quinn Cliett, Ronald Cliett, sister Joyce Rogers and bother-n-law Joe Rogers. She is survived by three children, Larry Don McConathy and wife Janice of Burkett, Debbie Cook and husband Bob of Burleson, and Johnny McConathy of Whitney; one sister and brother-n-law Charlotte and Bob Ryan of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one sister-n-law, Linda Cliett of Whitney; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
