Lois Sheets

Lois Burton Sheets,77, of Whitney, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 5, 2012 at Marshall and Marshall Chapel with Pastor Wade Yarbro officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney. Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5 - 9 PM at the funeral home.

Lois was born on December 8, 1934, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Roy Alvah and Ruth Alvera (Case) Burton. She married Richard Dean Sheets, Sr. on April 5, 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

She was known as “GG” to numerous great-grandchildren. Lois held numerous jobs in her life, but she was proud to have served as a dispatcher at the Hillsboro Police Department. Lois was known as being the backbone of her family of eight children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Dean Sheets, Sr., along with her siblings, Dorothy Ellison, Darwin Burton, Robert Burton, Charles Burton and David Burton, and one grandson, Robert Roundy.

She is survived by sisters Martha Jo Stasio and husband, Cirasco of New York and Viola Cotton of Bryan; brother Andrew Burton of Oklahoma; children, Don Scrogham of Oklahoma, , Dee Sinclair and husband, Terry of Missouri; Debbie Strickland Sheets of Whitney, Jackie Roundy and husband, Robert of Whitney, Rick Sheets and wife, Vanessa of Whitney, Melissa Tamborello and husband, James of Whitney, Christopher Sheets and wife, Heather of Whitney, and Tina Laster and husband, Kevin of Whitney; grandchildren, J.R. Patterson, Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Missouri, Jason Patterson and wife, Tammy of Whitney, Lisa Kelley and fiancé, Ivan of Round Rock, Bryan Sheets of Arlington, Crystal Sheets of Waco, Rachel Rose and husband, Brandon of Whitney, Dakota Laster and wife, Elizabeth of Kennedale, Michael Laster and fiancée, Neka of Fort Hood, Destiny Laster of Whitney, and Michelle Sheets of Whitney; and several great-grandchildren.
