Loleta Luther

Loleta Etta Luther, 93, of Whitney passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the funeral home.

Loleta was born March 16, 1922 to Quinn and Katie Dutton. She was a homemaker and nurse’s aide at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney for many years. On April 16, 1954, she married David O. Luther, Sr. They had two sons, David O. Luther, Jr. and Revis Luther. From her first marriage to Walter E. Smith, she had three sons, Ronnie Smith, Marvin Smith, and Charles Smith. She loved her family with all her heart.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, David O. Luther, Sr.; and one son, Marvin Smith.

Survivors include her sons, Ronnie Smith, Charles Smith and wife, Phyllis, David O. Luther, Jr., and Revis Luther; and daughter-in-law, Joy Smith. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
