Lonye was born April 22, 1915 in the Vaughan Community to Minnie and Cory Harrison. She grew up in Abbott where she graduated from High School in 1932, and where she was an active member of the Abbott Methodist Church. On October 3, 1937, she married Arthur Steele and they lived all of their 36 years of marriage in the Aquilla Community. Her husband died in 1973 and she moved to Hillsboro and worked for the Malouf Co. and Spartan Copper until it closed. In 1985, Lonye went to work for Wal-Mart where she was one of the first greeters, and she worked there 20 years until her retirement at age 90. Loyne was faithful and loving to her family; devoted to God and dedicated to her many friends. She was a member of the Line Street Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur; parents; sister, Agatha Valentine and her husband, Arliss. Lonye's survivors include two sons, Lanny Steele and wife, Marita of Hillsboro, Sammy Steele and wife, Nancy of Hillsboro; 5 grandchildren, Greg Steele and wife, Michelle; Scott Steele and wife, Rebel; Shanna Guerrero and husband, Stacy; Kim Sheddan and husband, Joe; Keith Steele, all of Hillsboro; 8 Great-grandchildren, Stacy, Shelby, Bailey, Cameron, Carson, Luke, Grant and Jackson; one Sister, Lajuan Maxwell and husband, Billy Joe of Waco and their children Ricky, Bradley, Blake, and Melissa, one nephew; Anthony Valentine of China Spring.
