Loretta Collins

Loretta Collins, 82, of Woodbury passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 in a Cleburne hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday at the Marshall & Marshall Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Stanley Lohse of Woodbury Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the New Woodbury Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.

Born December 8, 1934 in Fort Worth, Loretta was the daughter of Elmer Alexius and Lavern Vida (Cothran) Ferry. She was raised in Fort Worth where she lived until moving to Woodbury in 1980. On November 6, 1951, Loretta married Charles Gordon Collins.

Loretta worked as a seamstress for 25 years and as an insurance claims examiner for 8 years. She was one of the best cooks around and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a very faithful and active member of Woodbury Baptist Church, where she served as Church Secretary for many years. She was a very talented painter and especially enjoyed painting country scenes.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Charles “Pete” Gordon Collins, and son, Jimmy Charles Collins. Loretta is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay Heffner and husband, Bill, of Woodbury; brother, Anthony Raymond Ferry and wife, Deborah, of Maypearl; sisters, Lavern Parker-Glover and husband Louis of Itasca, Frances Yarbro of Woodbury, Paula Shaw and husband, Richard, of Maypearl; grandchildren, Kimberly Collins Stieber of Crowley, Jeremy Heffner and wife, Karly of Waco, Chase Heffner and fiancé, Jamie of Aquilla; great-grandchildren, Alona McCormick-Heffner of Lubbock; and Chandler Ray Heffner of Waco.
