Louise Benfer

Louise “Mamaw” Benfer, 88, of Whitney, passed away on July 4, 2017, in Whitney. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Smith Bend ~ Coon Creek Cemetery in Bosque County with Mr. Mike Kidd officiating, under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. She will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Louise was born on January 8, 1929, in Ladonia, to Lee and Christine (Miles) Rolen. On January 15, 1948, she married Billy Joe Benfer. She spent most of her life as a housewife and mother. After they retired, they moved to the river where they enjoyed working in the yard and traveling. Louise was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #522 of Lake Whitney. She lived her last 8 years at the Country Club Retirement Community where she enjoyed playing bingo, working puzzles and visiting with friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill Benfer and daughter, Pam Benfer; great-granddaughter, Sarah Brazzell; and sister, Genetta Cooper.

Survivors include sisters, Glenda Kubicek and husband, Bill and Linda Stephens; daughter, Sandra Jones and companion, Clarence Britton; son, Larry Benfer and wife, Jeni; grandchildren, Brian Jones, Angel Kidd and husband, Mike, Lindsay Benfer, Chris Benfer and partner, Jesse Contreras, Alex Brazzell and husband, Patrick and Chase Brown; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many friends who loved her.
