Louise Lovett (Leonard) Watling

Louise Lovett Watling, 82, died at Fort Hood Army Hospital in Killeen, Texas after a brief illness on January 11, 2021.

She was born on the 28th of September 1938, in Marlborough, Massachusetts to Kenneth C. and Myrtle Dudley Leonard. She was married to Chief Warrant Officer 4, Ret. Frank C. Watling who preceded her in death.

They have three sons, Charles E. Watling and wife, Candy, of Whitney, Jeffrey K. Watling and Linda Bassett of Barre, MA, and Karl R. Watling and Alisa David of Santa Fe, TX.

Her grandchildren are Chelsea and Cody Watling and Allan and Thomas Bassett. She is survived by her sisters, Lois Gray of Oxford, MA, and Diana L. Beck and husband, Ansley Ed Beck, of Cleburne, TX; and many nieces and nephews from Massachusetts to California.

After she retired from Frost National Bank in Galveston, TX as a loan officer, she   traveled with Frank and the children to Guam where he was stationed in the Coast Guard.  After their retirement, she and her husband toured the country side in their 5th wheel.

Later, she took vacations to England, Wales, Scotland, Nova Scotia, Canada, and took many cruises with friends and relatives.

In her spare time, she was an avid genealogy researcher of the family history tracking revolutionary war descendants and Mayflower ancestors. She loved   gardening and had a massive iris garden. She was also an active member of the Hill County Master Gardeners and Whitney Garden Club.  Louise was loved by many friends she met while living in Whitney and she will be missed.

Interment will be at the National Military Cemetery in Grand Prairie with her husband.
