Lucy Sanderlin, 84, former resident of Aquilla, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2016, in Bedford. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, with Dr. Carl Jennings of First Baptist Church, Whitney, officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service.

Lucy was born on November 11, 1931, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Kazo and Akiko Tsuchida. She met her husband, Rufus, in Kyoto, Japan while he was in the service and they were married on January 12, 1951, in Kobe, Japan. After her husband completed his military service, they settled in Fort Worth, and also lived in Bedford and Rendon before retiring to Aquilla in 1990.

For a number of years she worked at Pier 1 Imports before starting her own family business, Calidad Foods in Fort Worth. As president of the company, she ran her food distribution and manufacturing company with her husband for many years. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing in her spare time. She was of the Baptist faith and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post #4819 in West.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter Cecilia Shelton; four sisters; and a great-grandchild, Delaney White.

Survivors include her husband, Rufus Sanderlin, of Aquilla; children, Cora Lee Praught and husband, Eric of Hurst and Mike Sanderlin and wife, Stephenie of Paris; son-in-law, Danny Shelton of Aquilla; six grandchildren, Kelly White and husband, Mark of Euless, Collin Praught and wife, Emily of Waxahachie, Jennifer Griffin and husband, Greg of Allen, Andy Shelton and girlfriend, Cyra Wilson of Watonga, OK, Erin Villanueva and husband of Los Angeles, CA, Wade Sanderlin and wife of Arlington; eight great-grandchildren, Kylie White, Dylan White, Kristiana Griffin, Maegan Griffin, Ashtin Shelton, Jazen Shelton, Alexandra Sanderlin, Morgen Sanderlin; and sister Pat Yamasaki of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.

The family would like to thank Shannon and staff at Hidden Oaks Assisted Living, the doctors
and nurses at THR Harris HEB in Bedford, and caregivers at Community Hospice of Texas for the compassionate care they provided Lucy.
