Luther Neal Jr

Mr. Neal was born February 10, 1922 in Hillsboro the son of Maye Martin and Luther H. Neal, Sr. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He then went on to graduate from Hillsboro Junior College and received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Education from Southwestern University in Georgetown. During WWII he served in the U. S. Army Air Corp in England. Mr. Neal married Winona Grant March 7, 1947. Mr. Neal was principal-coach at Italy and was Superintendent at Milford before coming to Hillsboro where he was principal for 21 years. He also worked for a time at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors and served as Municipal Court Judge in Hillsboro for 12 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Winona Neal of Hillsboro; four children, Steve Neal and wife, Patricia, of Rosenberg, Nancy Steele and husband, Sammy, of Hillsboro, Jackie Neal and wife, Carole, of Hillsboro, and Bob Neal and wife, Claudia, of Austin; a brother, Pat Neal and wife, Doris, of Waco; a sister-in-law, Marie McCollough of Richardson; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Mary Grant of Burleson; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
