Lydia Kunkel

Lydia Kunkel, 89, of Bynum died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Itasca Nursing Home. Lydia was born September 7, 1920 in Hill County, where she lived all her life, daughter of the late William and Marie Schreiber Priebe. She attended White School in eastern Hill County. On December 21, 1938 she married Albert Herman Kunkel. After marriage, the couple settled in the Malone area. She was very enthusiastic in tending to her yard and plants. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Among her other talents, Lydia was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing dishes for her family and friends. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Also preceding her in death was her husband on March 17, 1986; son, Billy Ray Kunkel on June 16, 1984; and daughter, Barbara Greene on April 19, 2008. Survivors include her son, Mickey Kunkel of Bynum; granddaughter, Tammy Eastland of Hillsboro; and two great-grandsons, Collin and Nick Eastland both of Hillsboro.
