Mack Bailey, 84, of Hillsboro died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Canterbury Villa Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Mack was born April 6, 1922 in Itasca, Texas the son of Woolsey and Susie Washer Bailey. He attended Rockwall Elementary and Itasca High School. In July 1942 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy serving 33 months aboard the USS McCook and earned seven medals and three battle stars. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. For six years, Mack worked in road construction for H. B. Zachry. He also worked eighteen years for National Geophysical as an observer and farmed for seven years. Mack was a member of the Downtown Bible class. Survivors include a brother, John Bailey of Hillsboro; two sisters, Vivian Tyler of Ferris and Viva Spitzer of Kenosha, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
