Mae Hawkins

Mae Dell Hawkins, 94, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Friday prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mae Dell was born January 27, 1919 in Hill County to Stephen Clem and Lellia Mae (McCullough) Terry. A life-long resident of Hillsboro, she was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint. She also loved to read and was a great cook.

On September 19, 1936 she married Lester Lee Hawkins in Hillsboro and he preceded her in death in 1983. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Shirley Hawkins; brother, James Terry; sister, Estelle Gant; grandson, John Christopher Hawkins; and twin great-grandchildren, Ian and Savannah Hawkins.

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Rapp of Hillsboro, Kenneth Hawkins and wife, Marilyn, of Burleson, Johnny Hawkins and wife, Donna, of Waco, Terry Hawkins and wife, Susan, of Hillsboro, and Gaylon Hawkins and wife, Tawny, of Axtell; brother, J. B. Terry and wife, Anita, of Dallas; sister-in-law, Gene Burton of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; Vicki Groppe and husband, Greg, Tammy DeAngelo and husband, Bill, Renea Sanderson, Kevin Hawkins and wife, Cynthia, Kerry Hawkins, Nicki Thompson and husband, Dorey, Amy Hamilton and husband, Jon, Shella Botello and husband, Chris, Jeffrey Hawkins and wife, Malissa, and Becky Hawkins; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
