Marjorie Marie Bowling, 83, of Hillsboro died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.


Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Rev. Gordon Lockett of Emmett Baptist Church officiating.


Marjorie was born February 16, 1927 in Cameron, the daughter of Harvin and Elizabeth Agnes (Heitman) Reese. She graduated from Hearne High School in 1944. After completing school, she went to work at the prisoner of war camp in Hearne. She later transferred to Fort Hood, where she worked in personnel. In 1946 she moved to Gause, where she married Kenneth Bowling, Sr. on October 12. The couple moved to Hillsboro in 1956. For many years after moving to Hillsboro, she worked for J. M. Woods Company. Following that, she spent 14 years with the Department of Human Resources before retiring in 1987.


A very loving grandmother, Marjorie was always involved in her grandchildrens activities as well as always playing games with them and teaching them as long as she was physically able. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro and Hillsboro Order of the Easter Star Chapter #769, where she was a very active member, served in many positions, and also received her 50 year pin.


Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Kenneth Bowling, Sr. on February 26, 2003; and a grandson, Jade Bowling.


Survivors include two sons, Kenneth M. Bowling, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Cedar Park and James R. Bowling and wife, Sharon, of Irene; granddaughter, Amy Bowling of Irene; great-granddaughter, Paige Bowling of Irene; sister, Cathy Cook and husband, Nathan, of Bryan; and sister-in-law, Lanelle Jordan of Hillsboro


Memorials may be made to Eastern Star Hillsboro Chapter #769, Attn: Scholarship Fund, 3601 Orchard Lane, Waco, TX 76705.
