Margaret Moore

Margaret A. Moore, 88, of Hillsboro passed away Friday morning, August 19, 2016, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016, at New Woodbury Cemetery in Woodbury with Rev. Stanley Lohse of Woodbury Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Margaret was born July 7, 1928 in Woodbury to Truman Elmer and Cora Lee (Reddell) McElroy. On June 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to John “Buck” Riley and he preceded her in death on August 16, 1975. She later married William “Bill” Moore on November 5, 1976 and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1997.

She was employed as a seamstress for Woods of Texas and Malouf’s Manufacturing before retiring from Creditors Manufacturing in Hubbard. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and tracing family history through genealogy. Margaret was an avid news watcher and always kept up with the current events of the world. She was a member of Woodbury Baptist Church and was a passionate lover of dogs.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Johnny Riley on January 23, 2011; two granddaughters, Lacy Riley and Wendy Ann Riley; brother, Bob McElroy; and three sisters, Virginia Huckaby, Johnie Ruth Jones, and Dorothy McElroy.

Survivors include her children, Peggy Ann Riley of Hillsboro and Michael Riley of Woodbury; eight grandchildren, Austin Riley, Chad Hendricks, John Riley, Jeremy Riley, Leigh Ann Riley, Jamie Riley, Lindsey Riley, and Justin Riley; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Riley Ward, Kay Haliburton, and Linda Crimm; and her loving pet companion, Daisy.
