Margaret Lucille Parvin Smith was born November 14, 1935, at the family home outside of Milford, Texas, to Milton and Mattie Parvin. She attended a one room school located at Midway, which was a community situated mid-way between Milford and Hillsboro. When she started high school, the family moved to their farm about three miles north. This put Margaret in the Itasca school district. She graduated high school from Itasca and then attended business school in Fort Worth.
Margaret was christened as a baby into the Methodist Church at Midway. She was later baptized and joined the Loveview Baptist Church in the Lovelace community.
Margaret married and had her only child, Rhonda, on June 21, 1956. They moved to Mansfield, Texas, where she lived until her passing.
When Margaret moved to Mansfield, she was asked by a friend who owned and operated the City Café in downtown Old Mansfield if she would help her for a couple of days until they could find a replacement. Margaret, being the good person she was, who was always willing to help anyone, said that she would. Thirty-four years later, she retired. That was a long temporary job.
Family was most important to Margaret. She always told memories of the good old days. Over this past year of her being ill, she recalled so many memories with love and was always thankful for such loving, good parents.
Margaret, like her dad, did not like to travel. They much preferred being right at home. However, she did accompany her mother on a wonderful trip to Hawaii, which she would often recall with the fondest of memories.
Margaret was very active until she fell, breaking her shoulder in July of 2021, which started her decline. Many medical conditions complicated her ability to recover. From January 2023 until May 18, 2023, she only got to go home twice for less than twenty-four hours each visit before having to be taken back to the emergency room via ambulance for more treatment and long stays in different facilities. On May 18, 2023, she was transported to her family home and farm where she passed on May 21, 2023, surrounded by her daughter, sister and brother-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Martin, of Mansfield; her sister, Judy Crumpacker and husband, Joe, of Itasca; and many cousins and precious friends.
