Margarett Daphine Henson

Margarett “Daphine” Henson, 79, of Itasca took her last breath on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Gene Farquhar officiating.  Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery.  Ms. Henson will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, at the funeral home.

Margarett “Daphine” Henson was born in Itasca on November 15, 1940, to her loving parents, Perry and Lorene Smith.  Daphine was big sister to her sister, Doris Faye, and her brother, Perry Steve.  She married Gene Henson when she was 14, and had her only child, a daughter Rhonda Jean, when she was 17.  They were very close.

Daphine worked as a waitress at various cafes, as an aide at a nursing home, and at Rangaire until she became disabled.  She enjoyed making things, drawing and coloring, traveling, watching movies, listening to music, and cooking.  Daphine delighted in making people happy and was a prankster.  She often caught Rhonda off guard with her tricks.  She spent time with her grandchildren, Terri, Lydia, Leslie, and Victoria.  They lovingly called her Moesie.  She liked to teach them to draw and play.  After her grandkids had children, she tried teaching the great-grandchildren too and loved Khilah, Wesley, Brooke, Dacien, and Alexzander.

Daphine looked forward to visits with Doris, who took her places while she was able to go.  Later, Doris would bring meals to share or various treats.  Daphine could not wait for family get-togethers.  Nothing pleased her more than going out to eat, where Moesie took her time to extend those special occasions.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Lorene Smith; brother, Steve; uncle, WC Fudge; and grandparents, Henry & Ora Mae Fudge.

Margarett Daphine “Moesie” will be sadly missed by her daughter, Rhonda Jean; granddaughters, Terri and Lydia Trejo of Itasca, and Victoria Ramos and husband, Adam, Magnolia; grandson, Leslie Trejo and wife, Alicia of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren, Khilah and Wesley Frederick, Dacien Trejo, and Brooke and Alexzander Ramos; sister, Doris Faye Beaty; niece, Debbie Carvajal; nephews, Daryl Beaty and Michael Jason Smith; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her friends.
