Margie was the daughter of Herman and Irene Pauline Groppe Maass. She was born in the Honey Flat Community of Hill County and grew up on the farm near Irene and Brandon. After graduating from Bynum High School, Margie went to the Providence School of Nursing in Waco and took academic classes at Baylor. After receiving her BS in Nursing from TCU, she began her life-long nursing career with the Red Cross. She later also earned a Masters in Education degree from American International University. Margie was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church and was a member of the Irene Methodist Church where she played the piano. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Dwayne Maass. Survivors include: Husband, Barney Day of Hillsboro; 2 Sons, Joe Morgan and wife Linda of Frisco and Jay Morgan and wife Courtney of Bryan; Brother, Clyde Maass of Irene; 3 Sisters, Jane Pierce and husband Billy Don of West, Sue McGirk and husband Richard of Pearland, and Angela Steinkamp and husband Ricky of Crawford; 2 Grandchildren, Kathryn and Patric Morgan of Bryan; 14 Nieces and Nephews, Doug Pierce, David Pierce, Paula Snokhous, Buck Maass, Jon Maass, Brian Maass, Allison Krogness, Elizabeth Steinkamp, Maggie Steinkamp, Daniel Steinkamp, Lucas Steinkamp, Payton Snokhous, Pierce Snokhous and Violet Krogness.
