Margot Barnett

Margot was the daughter of Wilhelm and Helene Lamotte Satzger. A native of Germany, it was there she grew up and graduated from high school. In June of 1953 she married William Travis Barnett and the couple moved to the United States later that same year. Following William's discharge from the military, the couple settled in Hillsboro. Margot worked for the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce for a time, but spent most of her time caring for her family. She delighted in both her granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Some of her most special memories were taking her granddaughter to see her native Germany. A member of Central Christian Church in Hillsboro, Margot served in the church as a deaconess. On November 20, 1994, she was preceded in death by her husband. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Max Satzger; and two sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Marlene Barnett Carrigan and her husband, Monty, of Waco; a brother-in-law, Marlin Barnett and his wife, Shirley, of Houston; one granddaughter, Teresa Totten and her husband, Shane, of Waco; and a great-granddaughter, Paige Howard of Waco. Memorials may be made to either Central Christian Church, 100 Craig Street, Hillsboro, TX 76645, or Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Drive, Waco, TX 76710.
