Marie Kinser

Marie K. Kinser, 92, of San Antonio, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, at Garden Ridge Assisted Living in San Antonio. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, at Central Christian Church in Hillsboro with Rev. James Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Brandon Cemetery in Brandon. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.

Marie was born on October 12, 1918 in Hill County to John R. and Nellie K. Patterson. She had one brother, Dickson Patterson. Her grandparents were early pioneers who settled in Hill County from Scotland and Ireland. In 1941, Marie fell in love with and married H.W. (Dub) Kinser, Jr. of McKinney and they raised three children, Connie, Brenda and Kenneth.

After graduation from Bynum High School, Marie attended the University of North Texas where she graduated in 1940 with a BS Degree in Education. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Education from East Texas State University in 1966. She was a beloved teacher and truly devoted to her chosen profession of education. Her career path led her to serve in several school districts of Collin County. Marie retired in 1979 with thirty years of service.

She was a loving and outgoing person who never met a stranger. She loved traveling and gardening but loved her family and friends the most.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband and son-in-law, Ron Blake.

Survivors include her children, Connie Blake of San Antonio, Brenda Rollins and husband, Rick, of Anna, and Kenneth Kinser of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Heather Perkins and husband, Tracy, of Moody and Nathan Rollins of Anna; and two great-grandchildren, Summer and Elizabeth Perkins of Moody.
