Marie "Marie Rogers" Rogers

Marie Rogers, 91, of Hillsboro died and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday 21, 2011 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Reverend Paul Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was born on November 19, 1919 in Hamilton County, Texas, daughter of the late James A. & Mary McKandless. She grew up in Hamilton and was the youngest of 8 children. She was baptized in 1935 in the Leon River. She was working for Consolidated Aircraft in 1943 when she met the love of her life Andrew Rogers. They married on December 24, 1943 and moved to Hillsboro in 1944 and began their life on the farm. She loved to grow a garden and canned and preserved many fruits and vegetables. She loved her Dallas Cowboys but was most proud of her sons and grandchildren. She joined Mayfield Baptist Church in 1949 and was a faithful member until the church disbanded in 1983 and she then joined and attended regularly Walnut Street Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, A. O. Rogers; her parents; her 2 sisters, Ruby “Berta” Cole, Lela May Lowrance and her 5 brothers, John “Ernest”, Willie “Terrell”, Joe Bailey, B.D. and Albert “Sidney” McKandless.

Survivors include her two sons, Tim Rogers and wife Cindy, Dan Rogers and wife Kathi all of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Chris Rogers and wife Carrie, Clinton Rogers, Justin Rogers, Jeremy Rogers and Kailee Rogers all of Hillsboro; one step-granddaughter Jaime Seigert and husband Ryan of Austin; 1 great grandchild, Cole Rogers of Hillsboro and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Hill, John Motley, Randall Lewis, Marco Westmoreland, Larry Tekell, Bobby Cummings, Howard Sides and Steve McKandless.
