Marie Vorderlandwehr, 75, of Hillsboro died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at her residence. Marie was born April 2, 1934 in Braithwaite, OK the daughter of Jacob and Kathryne Wildermuth Mirtz. On November 27, 1952, she married Bob Vorderlandwehr. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2008. They moved to Hillsboro in August of 1960. Marie worked with her husband in his dental practice as office manager and dental assistant. She also ran the very successful Doc's Drillers men's softball team with her husband. Marie enjoyed sewing for her family and did beautiful needlepoint. She also loved preparing cakes for all her family's special occasions. Also preceding her in death were her parents, son-in-law, Richard Lewis, and brother, Raymond Mirtz. Marie was a very active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. She was also a member of the Sesame Club and a life member of Philotechnos Club. Survivors include her daughter, Valerie Lewis of Hillsboro; son, Bobby Vorderlandwehr and wife, See of Hillsboro; brothers, David Mirtz and wife Patsy of Balch Springs, and Benjamin Mirtz and wife, Gwen of Oklahoma; sisters, Betty Chancellor of Enid, Oklahoma, and Pat Mirtz of Enid, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Alice Hoffman of Garland; 4 grandchildren, Cassandra Sexton and husband Howard of Hillsboro, Stephanie Vantreese and husband Ray of Hillsboro, Cody Lewis of Hillsboro, and Raymie Vorderlandwehr of Hillsboro; 5 great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Mallorie and Mylie Sexton of Hillsboro, and Austin and Mason Lewis of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Hwy., Hillsboro, TX 76645.
